Hi there

That is using Publish to Web and as part of using Publish to Web one of the limitations are that you cannot export the data.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-publish-to-web
Limitations
Publish to web is supported for the vast majority of data sources and reports in the Power BI service, however, the following are not currently supported or available with Publish to web:

Reports using row level security.
Reports using any Live Connection data source, including Analysis Services Tabular hosted on-premises, Analysis Services Multidimensional, and Azure Analysis Services.
Reports shared to you directly or through an organizational content pack.
Reports in a group in which you are not an edit member.
"R" Visuals are not currently supported in Publish to web reports.
Exporting Data from visuals in a report, which has been published to the web
ArcGIS Maps for Power BI visuals
Reports containing report-level DAX measures
Single sign-on data query models
Secure confidential or proprietary information
The automatic authentication capability provided with the Embed option doesn't work with the Power BI JavaScript API. For the Power BI JavaScript API, use the user owns data approach to embedding. Learn more about user owns data.

This is the number one complaint about Power BI that I get from our end users... inability to export report contents to Excel from embedded links. Of all possible enhancements, this is the ones that would be the biggest game changer for my organization.

I think I might have the exact same question?

When using the generated embed link ("Securely embed this report in a website or portal"), the user is not presented with the dialogue to choose wether to Export as Excel or CSV (Picture 1)

Instead, after a few seconds of time the user can download the data as .CSV (Picture 2) - no possibility to choose between Excel or CSV or any other options.

Any way to have that option Excel-File or CSV when using the embed-link?

Thank you!

Hi @miguel1206

Do you mean export data from a dashboard tile?

If so you can do it by clicking on the Ellipses

Hi @GilbertQ

Thank you for your response

I mean using the Embed code link (not in the PowerBI.com portal) I haven't the option to export data of a tile to a .csv or excel files

Best regards

Hi there

I think that this might be possible if you are referring to Power BI Embedded?

Hi GilbertQ,

Thanks for your response,

As an example, when I see the dashboard in PowerBI.com and click on 'more options' in the every tile I see the options to Export to Excel:

tile1.PNG

Then I create the embed code to create the link and send in mail

tile2.PNG

And open in another page:

Here doesn't exists the option 'more options' to export data to Excel

Best regards
