Error : "Unable to find a part of the path"

Hi,

I want to schedule an update on power bi service. For that, I have created a gateway with the different access paths to my Excel files but when I try to update afterwards, I get this error:

Data source error: {"error":{"code": "DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_MashupDataAccessError", "pbi. error":{"code": "DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_MashupDataAccessError", "parameters":{}, "details":[{"code": "DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingErrorCode", "detail":{"type":1, "value":"-2147467259"}},{"code": "DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingErrorMessage", "detail":{"type":1, "value": "Unable to find part of path 'N:\7- PRODUCTION\2-Prep\5-Follow-up Performance CUP 2023. xlsx'."}},{"code": "DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingHResult", "detail":{"type":1, "value":"-2147467259"}},{"code": "Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError. Detail", "detail":{"type":1, "value": "N:\7- PRODUCTION\2-Prep\5-Performance Monitoring CUP 2023.xlsx"}}},{"code": "Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.Reason", "detail":{"type":1, "value": "DataSource.Error"}}], "exceptionCulprit":1}} Table: BDD Perf.

I have got this for my 6 Excel files. I think it is because my files are on the company network (disk N) but I don't know why It can't work.

Can someone help me ? What could I do to fix that ?

Thanks in advance for your help !

PS : it is th first time I try to use that sorry if it is a simply question

PS 2 : I use the free test of Power BI pro for the moment

PS3 : Sorry for my english

Hi , @Aodren_Collet

According to your description, the error code is "Unable to find part of path 'N:\7- PRODUCTION\2-Prep\5-Follow-up Performance CUP 2023. xlsx'".

It means that the gateway can not access to the path .For this error code , you need to check:
(1)The machine where the gateway is installed has access to this directory. You just have to make sure that all three of these exist on the machine where the gateway is installed.

(2)This folder can be accessed by the gateway service account.

For this , you can refer to :
Change the on-premises data gateway service account | Microsoft Learn

(3)Connection paths in datasets can only be modified if they are parameterized or republished. Modifying the path in the credentials does not modify the connection path in the dataset.

Thank you for your time and sharing, and thank you for your support and understanding of PowerBI!

Best Regards,

Thought PowerBi would be as awesome as Excel, as new learner this has been a nightmare dedicating hours figuring thing out; once the project is save -- everything is restricted is using GitHub to push the project over to GitHub. Time spent in project that I can spend with my family is what is frustrating.

Were you able to get around this? I am having the same issue.

Update:

I was able to fix this by getting the full file path name and updating 1. My data source on the pbix, and on connection. so instead of N:\7- PRODUCTION there's a slightly longer file path name, its like N is representative of some other name, I simply had to check this with IT.

I hope that helps.

The error says: Unable to find part of path - This is indicative that the problem has something to do with the file path name you provided. I had the exact same error for an Excel file as well.

I was able to fix this by getting the full file path name and updating:

1. My data source on the pbix.
2. The connection on the powerBI Service. So instead of N:\7- PRODUCTION there's a slightly longer file path name, N is representative of some other name, I simply had to check this with IT- and that did the trick for me!

I hope that helps.
