Error in setting up the gateway for Excel file

Hi, I am trying to set up a gateway for a file at my local computer. I always get an error " Unable to connect. We encountered an error while trying to connect". I have made sure my gateway is up and running and also the path of the excel file is same as for gateway and desktop. Please help

When you say it has the same path, is the Gateway installed on the same PC/Server as where the file is?

It is on the same PC

Make sure that the Power BI Gateway Service has got access to the file where it is stored?

It does have access to the file

You need to make sure you have permission to access the file , and the path should be like below

\\(servername)\Users\<Pfolder>\<child folder>\<child folder>\excel.xlsx. By the way, you also could provide the detailed error information, then I will help you more correctly.
