When I try create a shortcut to an ADLS gen2 Storage account, I receive the following error.
I have marked the places where the target folder for the creation is visible. I started the creation out of this empty folder using the button offering that.
I cannot understand why the creation should fail with the error about the incorrect target path.
Unless I am wrong in assuming that the "target folder" is the one where the shortcut should appear after creation.
If that should be so, I would assume that some more users will fall into this trap.
Solved! Go to Solution.
I have found the reason for the error.
The storage account was created by my collegue who did not enable "hierarchical namespace".
I now have created another account with that option enabled an creating a shortcut works like a charm.

Awesome thanks for letting us know!
Hi @mriedmuell
Could it be due to the fact that your storage account is in a different region to your fabric tenant?
Hi @GilbertQ unfortunately they both are in North Europe, so it should not be the cause for the error.
What happens if you create a folder in the ADLS and put in a sample file and then try and create the shortcut?
I have created a container and uploaded two files.
I can see those files when I fill the target information for the shortcut.
I chose the container and am able to proceed in the GUI to the next step.
