OK, so I uploaded my pbix file today and it is working well on line.
Went back to make one or two more tweaks to the pbix desktop and the desktop file then became corrupted. I've been pretty good about saving backups, that is until the last 2 weeks, a time during which I have done considerable work on the desktop file that I would not want to lose.
Logically, there must be some way to download the good pbix file that I uploaded just this morning. Please tell me I am right.
@MojoGene @ankitpatira is right there is no way to download a file from the Service at this point, can you access the file at all, or does it just automatically error? If you can access it, you could possibly try to un-wind some of the steps in advanced editor...

Thanks for the responses. I was worried that would be the case.
The file got corrupted as I tried to save something and I tried multiple time to Undo things. When the Undos failed, I tried deleting the steps I had taken. Nothing worked. The "corrupted" message kept appearing with every change. Finally, I thought I would be safe by just closing the program and restarting. (I had not tried to save the file again after the "corrupt" message appeared during my first attempt to save it.) To my dismay, that didn't work either.
It looks like when you try to save a file that has gotten corrupted the "Save" function will actually let you save enough of the corrupted file so that it can never be functional again. I am not a software programer, but it seems to me that before a file is saved to disk that file should pass the "not corrupted" test.
If I recall correctly, you can upload your PBIX file to OneDrive (Personal or Business) which can serve as a source control mechanism by providing versioning features. So in the future, if you may have screwed something up, you should be able to revert to a previous version of the PBIX and then republish that file to the Power BI Service.
You can connect to your PBIX file in OneDrive through Get Data from the Power BI Service.

There is a place in heaven for you! My pbix was on Dropbox and after I read your post I went back to check if there were prior versions. Sure enough! There are at least a dozen prior versions. I just went back to the version that I had saved only 15 minutes prior to the file getting corrupted and it opened without a problem.
Whew!!
@MojoGene Unfortuntay I don't think there is any way to download pbix files from power bi service. What you can do is send your pbix file to Microsoft support and ask them to help you.
This is your chance to engage directly with the engineering team behind Fabric and Power BI. Share your experiences and shape the future.
