Hi there,
I am under the impression that the automatic refresh in PowerBI service simultaneously refreshes datasets. I don't want this to happen as I have capacity limitations on my API call. The refresh works fine on the desktop version, as I have a wait function that allows the capacity budget to replenish before it calls the API again.
Is there a way to control the number of datasets that get refreshed at any one time? Ideally I would like the datasets to refresh one by one.
Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Tom
Hi. There is no tool for preventing this and the refresh can be configured by UI or API. I guess the best approach would be using the PowerBi Rest API to understand your current configuration at the Capacity.
You can get the latests refreshes of the capacity in order to understand the days and times configured.
The request would be: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/power-bi/capacities/get-refreshables-for-capacity
You can store that info in a storage to read it with PowerBi and create a report that helps you controling schedule refreshes.
I hope that helps,
P/D there are cmdlets or python libraries (like simplepbi) for making the use of rest api easier.
Happy to help!
