Dataset not automatically refreshing

My automatic refresh for my dataset on Power BI app has not been working. The dataset is connected to 2 SQL servers and I have confirmed connection with them.

  1. I have clicked on the refresh option on my dataset
  2. I have checked my on-premise gateway connection to confrim all ports are successfully opened.
  3. I have removed the refresh requirements for unecessary queries by right clicking in the power query editor and deselecting 'include in refresh report' from a query.
  4. I have confirmed connection with the SQL servers in the app and desktop report as well.
  5. I have completed a scheduled refresh, it failed.

After all the above methods I continue to get these errors.

How do I fix the Automatic refresh for my reporting?

Hi @Anonymous ,

This happens when the data source you used, within Power BI Desktop, isn’t supported for refresh. You will need to find the data source that you are using and compare that against the list of supported data sources at Refresh data in Power BI.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/service-admin-troubleshoot-unsupported-data-source-for-refresh .

Please also take a look at this topic:

https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Service/You-can-t-schedule-refresh-for-this-dataset-because-one-or-more/m-p/335764 .

Custom functions and query parameter not support in power bi service. If your source table contains above features, you can't enable refresh features on power bi service.

@Anonymous  - Please try the below steps. Let me know if it works.

1)  Download the report and doing a full refresh in PowerBI desktop. Then re-publish to the Power BI Service.

2) Now go to the dataset settings and  click on edit credentials. Re-enter the credentials and refresh.

Thank you for your reply! I have done what you suggested but it still is having a refresh error!

I am thinking it's a Power BI Service privacy issue with the datasets.
