Datamart: refresh dataflows

This must be a commen question - however I have not found anything here or in the documentation:

If I refresh a datamart that incluedes dataflows (from the same workspace): do I need to refresh the dataflows first (manually or scheduled) or will a refresh of the datamart trigger a refresh of the dataflows included. If anyone could point me to the corresponding documention that would be highly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi. I would say no. I don't think I have read anything about an automatic trigger from datamart to run a dataflow. You should configure dataflow schedule refresh and then the datamart schedule refresh.

I hope that helps,

The only dataflows that automatically get refreshed are parent dataflows when using linked entities. Dataset and datamart refreshes do not trigger parent dataflow refreshes. You are right, there are no orchestration/automation capabilities for datamarts at the moment, though I suspect it's just a matter of time.

thanks @ibarrau

still, if anyone come across this information on microsofts datamart documentation, a link would be highly welcome!

Also, if this is correct I think it would be a step back for me to use datamart. As the duration of refreshing dataflows can vary (or fail) I use Power Automate to refresh dataflows in the correct order and than as last step I refresh the dataset. Power Automate is missing the ability to refresh datamarts so I can not replicate this approach using datamarts!
