Has anyone had a go at this use case, where you can connect to the database with your user credentials?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Yes. If you have a report thats direct query or composite and you want to respect the row level security inside the database itself. In that case you would pass through the user's credentials for authentication.
If you are using an import dataset, none of that will be relevant.
When you connect to a data source or configure a connection for a data source in Service, you use your credentials to connect.
End-user credentials are used for user authentication, while database credentials are used for server authentication.
End-user credentials require greater security because user privacy and data security are involved, and SSO is often the case; Database credentials, on the other hand, are more focused on securing the server.
