Hi All,
I've been facing an issue with refreshing a data set that contains a data source (excel 97) with extension .xls, when refreshing the data on the desktop everything is fine, but on the service, I receive the below error:
Excel Workbook: The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine. The 64-bit version of the Access Database Engine OLEDB provider may be required to read this type of file. To download the client software, visit the following site: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=285987.
I am unable to change the format manually for these files as we receive hundreds of them on a daily basis, is there any way to overcome this issue?
Solved! Go to Solution.
You need to install 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 from Download Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable from Official Microsoft Download Cent... on gateway server and register a data source to refresh your reports on web
Still your data source might be on cloud (SharePoint/Onedrive) but you will need gateway as using excel 97 .xls
Issue was solved, I created a flow to transform the files from .xls to .xlsx and the report is now refreshing.
Thank you!
Hi @Aous ,
Has your problem been solved, if yes please consider accept it as the solution, if not change file ".xls" to ".xlsx" and again refresh Power BI.
