Data Gateway for Amazon RDS

If my Amazon RDS database is publicly accessible, do I need to install a data gateway to connect Power BI for data import and scheduled refresh?

You do not need a gateway if your data source is directly visible from the Azure service. 

"publicly accessible"  can mean many things.  Try it out.
