Could be TSIS (Temporary Service Insanity Syndrome. You could check the Issues forum here:

If you have Pro account you could try to open a support ticket. If you have a Pro account it is free. Go to https://support.powerbi.com. Scroll down and click "CREATE SUPPORT TICKET".
I reached out to Support and they tell me that Dynamic functions are no longer compatible with Data Flows...
This wasn't always the case though, right? Or am I just setting up the new one wrong. Would three "invoke custom function" steps be considered dynamic functions? I find it hard to believe they just regressed in functionality.

Yes, - that's the response I got from support. My question is... did they used to be though? I used the exact same query steps from 2017-2019 without issue and yesterday it errorred out and now all of them are
