Hi
I have a number of visuals that use a custom theme. In Power BI Desktop and on the Service portal, these visuals look fine on their report pages. If I use the pin option to pin the visual to a dashboard, the preview window shows the visual stripped of any settings I'd changed, regardless of whether I opt to use the dashboard destination theme or use the currently applied theme.
For a bit of background, the visuals I'm testing with are plain cards and display a calculated measure based on data from a SharePoint list.
In the above screenshot, for example, I'd expected the visual to retain its red background, font configuration and text alignment.
A possibly related issue I'm having is around dashboard themes. I've attempted to upload the JSON theme file I'd created in Power BI Desktop but the custom colour scheme I'd used isn't reflected in the available colour palette when I choose the 'custom' theme option. No errors are shown, but the colour palette isn't updated. This issue occurs both on existing dashboards and new dashboards where no visuals have yet been pinned.
I've tested the pinning process using Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer and Edge (Chromium version), using private browsing sessions.
If anyone has advice I'd be grateful, the most similar posts I could find were 2+ years old.
this has been a long running issue (since at least 2018) and most people have given up on it ever getting fixed. Rumor has it that when you edit a report on the service before pinning to a dashboard tile the chances of the them sticking are higher. No guarantees.
