Enterprise Gateway Authentication Error

I'm using an EC2 container to host Microsoft Windows Server with Power BI Desktop and Gateway installed. The report I'm working with is pulling from MySQL hosted on AWS RDS under the same VPN.

Using the desktop report builder, I'm able to pull the data from MySQL using DB credentials generated by IT. However, after following the directions in the Enterprise Gateway setup documentation, I'm getting "The credentials provided for the MySql source are invalid," even while using the exact same login info and server host/DB as the report builder. The password comes from a copy/paste in a text file, so it's extremely unlikely that I'm just entering it incorrectly (and I've even tried typing it manually just to make sure). All settings (privacy level, encryption) are set exactly the same.

I've also set up another web data source based on a REST API being hosted under the same VPN to confirm that the Gateway works correctly, and I'm able to set up the connection online.

Is there anything else that could be causing an auth error? I'm not going to rule out the possibility of incorrect credential entry 100% (you never know), but I've tried just about everything now and I want to make sure.

Thanks for your time!

This may be a bit of an off question but are you using the MySQL ODBC driver? If yes, which one, official or Simba?
