Create a card which shows info only when clicked on related tab

Hi I have created a dashboard, A slicer with the list of schools and a card with principals. I want the card to show blank when no schools are selected and show the pricipal name only when a school is selected. Watched few videos but it just went over my head. Can soeone help me break down this please. Would really appreciate it.

Create a measure = SELECTEDVALUE(school)

Add the measure to the card
