We have a couple of semantic models with high concurrent use and hourly refreshes, some of our users are complaining about Power BI service being "slow". We have noticed that in some cases this happens while the refresh is going on. We are analyzing the option of enabling scale-out on these semantic models and I was wondering if you have any experience using this feature that you could share. I know that this feature has been GA since November 2023, and that increases our confidence in it, however, it would be great to hear about your experiences.
Thank you in advance!
Hi @carloscantu ,
Based on the description, semantic model scale-out uses your Premium capacity to host one or more read-only replicas of your primary semantic model.
By increasing throughput, the read-only replicas ensure performance doesn’t slow down when multiple users submit queries at the same time.

Hi @Anonymous
Thank you for sharing the documentation, however, my question intent is to understand if anyone has implemented it and what have been the results.
Check out the July 2025 Power BI update to learn about new features.
This is your chance to engage directly with the engineering team behind Fabric and Power BI. Share your experiences and shape the future.
