After deployment, manually configure the connection credentials for the deployed items in the Power BI service. You can do this by navigating to the dataset settings in the Power BI service and updating the credentials there.

I know the manual route, but I want to keep the data source credentials in the file itself, they seem to disappear after deployment. Manual publishing does not have this issue

In the Edit Permissions window, change the privacy level to None, and then click OK to save the settings
