Connect Power BI App to Azure Virtual Machine SQL database through a Virtual Network Data Gateway

Hi all,

I have a SQL database hosted on an Azure virtual machine. Currently, I am connecting to the database from my power bi app using a public IP and an on-premise gateway, which is working fine. I am now trying to connect through a virtual network data gateway so that I can switch the public IP off.

I have created the vnet data gateway in my powerbi app and it is connected successfully. However, when I try and create a connection to my database through this gateway I get the error:

"Unable to create a connection for the following reason: We could not access the data source. Please make sure you have permission to access the data source and that your credentials are correct".

I have triple-checked all the details. I have also created a subnet on the virtual machine delegated to

Microsoft.PowerPlatform/vnetaccesslinks and have tried the following IP ranges: 10.6.5.0/24, 10.6.4.0/24, and 10.240.134.48/28 (these are just what I found in online forums/tutorials).

Any ideas of what to try next? I would appreciate any help in getting this working. Thanks!
