Hi,
I have a Power BI dashboard I created in desktop using an Excel file however I want to be able to schedule a refresh of the data. I have now created a data source by uploading the Excel table to Power BI service and putting in a workspace so I have a semantic model I can hopefully connect to that will refresh. However I can't work out how to change my existing data source to this new one. I know how to change data source but I can't seem to browse to My workspace to pick up the new one. Any suggestions please?
Hi @Ragemoomin
Doesn't work that way. The Excel file should be uploaded to OneDrive for Business or Sharepoint(Teams), this option if you don't want to use a Power BI Gateway. The other option is you keep the file where it is now in your machine and install a Personal Gateway to make things automatically refreshable in the service.
I would pick the first option 😉

Thank you. When I originally created the dashboard it was using an Excel file on SharePoint but the schedule refresh options are greyed out
Can you show me some more details, M code, service....
