Card 'Export Underlying Data' how is field/column order determined

When 'exporting underlying data' from a card on the Power BI online service I need to have the exported columns (~20+ of them) be in a specific order.  I am pulling the data in with SQL in the Advanced Editor.  I was unable to figure out how the order of columns is determined and have already unsuccessfully tried the following:

  • Switching column order in the Query Editor
  • Switching column order in SQL code in Advanced Editor

The order also does not appear to be impacted by the order of the fields in the database tables either.  I would just create a separate table for this and specify the column order there but my client needs it to export directly from the card in a specific order.  I know that with a Table the order of exported data is determined by the order of what you drag fields in by but that doesn't impact my card.

Does anyone know how the order of columns of the export underlying data is determined?

Hi @Anonymous,

It seems we can't determined the order. Please create an idea here for this feature.

Hi

Is this feature is available in power bi services or desktop?

we are also expecting the specific order once the data exported from underlying data.

as of now the data is exported by default with some order.

please suggest if this feature is available? or need to write any functionality?
