Capacity Exceeding Limit

Hello PowerBI Community,

Me and my team are currently facing an issue with exceeding capacity at the moment we have 2 capacities currently and both are exceeding the limit. We have gone about a process of optimizing the DAX measures in the dataset which were previously using a significant amount of resource however do bare in mind that our calendar is a company financial  year calendar so we are unable to use time intelligence in DAX measures to make it the most optimal. The number of users has gone up signifcantly within the last year however the capacity we have is recommended for the size of our organization so scaling up capacity really should be a last option.  Can anyone recommend best practices to go through things that we should avoid including in our reports and datasets so they are the most efficient they can be, as most of the CU is taken up querying so either there are still some DAX inefficiences or some Front end mistakes that should be avoided i.e. too many card visuals or other stuff that we have not considered.

Thanks

I think there is a lot to do here

1- use vertipaq analyzer to analyze your model columns and tables cardinality and size also check data types.

2- provision log analytics workspace to log AS logs and use the prebuilt templates to check which query and which visual is causing problems and use a lot of resources

3-schedule data refresh outside workhours.

You have probably already seen this, but if not, it is a good guide for things to look for: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/guidance/power-bi-optimization
