Cannot load model schema error

Hi,

I manage a data model in Azure Analysis Services which is used in a Power BI report. The report is in a PBI Pro workspace and users have Viewer, Build access to it.

My colleague, who has a PBI Pro license, receives the attached error when opening the report. He has access to the AAS model and PBI report via an Active directory group. Can anyone explain why he would still receive the "Cannot load model schema associated with this report" error?

Any help or advise is appreciated!

Hi, @sarvapriya

According to your screenshot , when your colleague open your shared report , he encounter the error code "

Couldn’t load the model schema associated with this report. Make sure you have a connection to the server, and try again."

According to this error message, I guess your current report should be a Mixed mode, created by connecting another dataset? You can check the following:

(1) We need to give you the dataset view and build permission of the upper layer, not the current dataset.

(2) Check whether the creator of the dataset can view the data correctly to verify the connectivity of the data source. (3) Check whether the person to be shared has the right to access Azure Analysis Service. My understanding is that Azure Analysis Service uses AAD authentication, and when our Live connection is connected, the AAD credentials of the current user will be passed to the data source.

And for this error code , you can also refer to this document:
Setting the right permissions for users of composite models - SQLBI

Thank you for your time and sharing, and thank you for your support and understanding of PowerBI!

Best Regards,

Aniya Zhang
