Hello, I have a problem with the new fabric item Org app. Our company does not have Fabric licence but we have Power BI premium licence.
It was my impression that Power BI Premium and Fabric licence have the same set o features the users can use. For example I am able to create fabric items witout problem. But this new item I cannot create and I am prompted to swith to Fabric trial capacity.
So my question is. Shouldn't I be able to create an Org app with a Premium licence? Thank you.
Solved! Go to Solution.
I resolved the issue. The tenant admin had to enable Org Apps in settings. Then I could create Org App item without the popup window telling me I need Fabric capacity.
So the real question is why could I create the Org App item without the tenant admin enabeling the option in the first place.

Hi @Tibor_Stokl -Org App Creation falls under Microsoft Fabric capabilities, not just Power BI Premium. While you can create many Power BI artifacts (like datasets, reports, and dashboards) under a Premium license, some of the new Microsoft Fabric-specific features (such as data engineering, data pipelines, or certain org apps) will prompt you to upgrade to a Fabric license. you're seeing the "switch to Fabric trial capacity" message—it's because the feature you're trying to access is specific to Fabric and not part of the Power BI Premium package. If you only need Power BI features, stay within the Premium license capabilities and ignore Fabric prompts.Upgrade to Fabric License: If you need Fabric capabilities (like data integration, data science, or data engineering features), you will need to trial or upgrade to Microsoft Fabric capacity.
Hope this information helps.

Thank you for your reply. But just like I said. I can use all other fabric features just fine with premium. That includes data pipelines, lakehouses, warehouses and so on. Only the new feature Org apps prompts me with the message to upgrade to fabric. So it was a suprise to me.
Yes it makes sence that fabric features require fabric capacity but our organization was under the impression that Fabric and Premium licences are the same but in name. And after our premium licence would end we would seamlessly migrate to fabric.
This is even stated in the blog post you have shared by Kim Manis the

Quote:
"To make the transition as easy as possible, we have ensured customers can access Fabric capabilities on their existing Power BI Premium per capacity."
So that is no longer the case? Is there a statement from microsoft where they clearly state that it is no longer the case?
