Azure Portal vs SQL Server Management

Hi,

It seems that if the power bi data source is Azure, it is possible to skip the gateway connection for updating/refreshing the data.

In my case, there is a SQL Server Management database and other cloud-based, OneDrive, files as the report source. Right now for every update/refresh my system must be on and the Gateway must be running. that means no true vacation for me.

My questions are:

- how can I use Azure instead of SQL Server?

- is there any cost associated with it?

- if it is not possible, is it possible to install the gateway o my phone now we can refresh on the mobile app?

1. You could migrate database from local to the cloud, costs will be incurred.

2. On-Premises data gateway could only be installed in windows operation system
