Auto Refresh in Import mode?

I have a publisehd a PBI file in the service with an import mode, which connected in azure.
Which for that table it refresh every 5mins as per the Data Warehouse team.

Does it mean that I don't have to manually refresh or set a scheduled refresh for this type of connection mode?
I noticed that I have to be online to have those datasets refreshed in the service, me going offline will result in a failed refresh ( Email Notification etc. )

Hi @v_mark ,

As the official document said: regardless of storage modes, no data refresh can succeed unless the underlying data sources are accessible.

In your case, as the message shown ,you don't need to configure on-premises data gateway. The On-premises data gateway acts as a bridge, providing quick and secure data transfer between on-premises data (data that is not in the cloud) and the Power BI.

But you still need to manage the configuration of these data sources by using the Data source credentials section in the dataset settings.

Hi @v_mark ,

You do not need a gateway for a cloud to cloud connection.  You have upt to 8 refreshes a day with the Pro license.  If you have Premium, you can refresh more often that that.  If the refresh doesn't work when you are offline does that mean that you are using a local file and/or a personal gateway?  Either of those cases would cause it to fail.

The other issue could be that your userid/password doesn't work unless you are actively connected to the data source?  That would be a bit unusual but if that is the case, then have the userid/password that you use for this report to be a generic, read-only access userid.

That said, I would think this is caused by you having a local file or a personal gateway.

At this point, I don't have any local file right now, and seems like I have an on-premise gateway installed way way back.  Which  I was thinking of removing it completely

As far userid/password yes. I need to connect to VPN  (Since majority of us  transition to work from home setup)

not totally sure about this one
