Hi Everyone
I was wondering if there are any known performance issues when working with a Power BI model in Excel depending on how you connect to the Power BI Model.
I built a Power BI model that our Finance team only uses in Excel. When they go to the dataset in the Power BI Service and choose 'Analyze in Excel' to get the connection, Excel is constantly trying to read the connection and it can hang or take 10 minutes before you can add columns or measures to the pivot table.
When you connect to the data model directly from Excel but going through the 'Power Platform from Power BI' option, Excel isn't constantly re-reading the connection and data.
Is there a notable difference between using one over the other that anyone is aware of?
very good question that I'd now ask myself. From what I could find, the difference is in the xmSQL being used for the "Analyse in Excel" which may be slower but I'd love to get some official statement from MS
