Hi Power BI forums!
We have set up an Azure SQL Server behind the private endpoint and denied all public network access for that server. Now I wanted to set up a personal gateway to enable auto-refresh in Power BI service - is this possible?
I saw that in Power BI service this connection is automatically marked as "cloud" connection but we can't really access the data source from the cloud, so I am wondering if it is possible to ask Power BI service to go with the gateway instead?
Thank you!
Hi @wcai
For this to run, you would need to use a vnet to access your sql server. There are details on how to do this.

Thank you @GilbertQ
Is it possible to achieve this with personal gateway? Just like how we can access on-premise web api through personal gateway, is it possible to treat this SQL server as on-premise SQL server?
I am aware of vnet but it will take some time before our IT department to work on that
Hi @wcai
Unfortunately that is the only way to access it without opening up IP Addresses to the Power BI Service (Which from what I know is quite a lot and also change frequently)
