Hello,
I have built a Power BI report in Desktop that connects to a SQL Server instance hosted on AWS that is configured with Windows Authentication.
Once published to Service, I am unable to manually refresh the dataset, configure data source credentials (greyed out) or configure scheduled refresh and the gateway connection toggle is fixed to 'On'.
Before I engage IT to set up an enterprise gateway, can anyone let me know if a gateway is a requirement in this scenario and why? (In my simple brain, AWS is a cloud service and not on-prem so not sure why a gateway is needed?)
Is it something to do with windows authentication?

Currently, Microsoft only supports most of the Microsoft Cloud Services natively in the service, as well as a few other cloud providers Unfortunately, when you are using SQL Server within AWS, you will need a gateway to successfully connect to your SQL Server.
