Hi, @ThuNguyen

Does the data in your database use the fonts shown in the screenshot below?

vjianpengmsft_1-1727257097680.png

You need to remove the change type, as shown in the following figure:

vjianpengmsft_0-1727256093908.png

Additionally, you need to install the Vietnamese language on your computer:

Here are my tests:
After I installed Vietnamese, I created some sample text in my database:

vjianpengmsft_4-1727257264852.png

Then export to PDF from Report Builder:

vjianpengmsft_5-1727257332150.png

vjianpengmsft_6-1727257348498.png

Afterwards you should be able to load it correctly from Excel:

hi, @ThuNguyen

You can try using an Excel-supported font in Report Builder, such as Times New Roman or Arial Unicode MS. Arial Unicode MS is a font that contains a large number of Unicode characters, which makes it more suitable for working with multilingual text.

In addition, you may consider using third-party software specifically designed to convert PDF files, these tools may have better character encoding support.

If I have answered your question, please mark my reply as solution and kudos to this post, thank you!

Hi hackcrr,

I used Arial/ Times New Roman in Report Builder. I tried to read exported PDF with Python the font still error.

Thank you hackcrr

Hi, @ThuNguyen

You need to set up your generic font in Report builder as shown in the image below:

vjianpengmsft_1-1727244389174.png

Then export to PDF:

vjianpengmsft_2-1727244515000.png

Get the data from this PDF in excel:

vjianpengmsft_4-1727244634955.png

In the Power Query window that appears, format each column by your user's locale:

Hi CST,

I set up as yours but no luck:

Font on Report Builder:

ThuNguyen_0-1727254324131.png

Exported PDF:

ThuNguyen_1-1727254358730.png

Power query:

ThuNguyen_2-1727254421098.png

Change Type to Local (Vietnamese or any font):

ThuNguyen_3-1727254627398.png
