Value cannot be null. Parameter name: evaluation - Amazon Redshift

I have a working query that pulls records from Amazon Redshift. When I paste that query into a new Data Source I get the error. 

Value cannot be null. Parameter name: evaluation

I tried deleting the ExceptionCache - no luck.

I reported this through the Power BI "Report This Issue" feature, but at their suggestion I'm also posting it here.

I'm trying to figure out how to post the error log..

It's happening again. This time I can't even get to the custom SQL part. I enter the server and database name, click OK and I get the error.

Did all of the above, no change. No query parameters yet.

FWIW this is in a PBIX that already has one working connection with a custom query.

Please follow below steps reslove your issue;

1.Test the query in a SQL client to ensure it's correct and make sure all query parameters are properly defined and check for null values in power BI.

2. please recheck the server name, database that the amazon Redshift connector is used.

3. If the data source is corrupted, delete and recreate the connection using the Redshift connector, then clear the Power BI cache by deleting the files from the specified folder. Restart Power BI.

I still have the issue. I deleted/reinstalled PBI, still have the issue.  Server and credentials are correct. When I create a new query and attempt to put custom SQL in the step I get the error.
However, I have found a workaround:

• Create a new blank PBIX
• Open Power Query Editor, create a new Query
• Enter Amazon Redshift server and database name
• Enter credentials if needed
• Select an existing dataflow
• Leave it as DirectQuery, not Import
• Query creates successfully
• Return to the first Applied Step ("Source") in the Query and update it, inserting the SQL command
• Delete the "Navigation" Applied Step

This gives me the query I want. I repeated this step four times to give me four queries, each based on custom SQL.

I still don't know why it fails when I do it the first way.

I would love to attach the error log, but that doesn't seem to be an option here.

Please follow below steps to acheive the error;

1. please make sure no null and missing parameters in the query

2. confirm the connection string, credentials, all required permissions are correct or not and all query parameters are defined and used correctly.

3. Delete and set up the Amazon Redshift data source again in Power BI.
