Slow refresh and filter

I have the data source as Azure SQL Database. In which my power BI reports should read around 4 lakh records. My report takes more time to load this data (around 10 min). The reports with small amount of data around 20K records load faster. How can we improve this speed of report loading for large bundles of data.

Yes  I am using Azure SQL DB with direct Query Option..

This was my previous try : I created a table saying Branches, i connected my user branches to this table so that the login based user can be accessible only to those branches. But on doing this, it has reduced my report performance.

Thank you for the reply. We just discovered the time taking was because of Row level security which i had implemented for my reports. Suppose a user has access to view only 2 locations out of 5 locations, you have any suggestions to implement this in effective way?

Hi @siddarth_mine,

Based on your description, I assume that the expression you use to create RLS role is not complicate. In this case, the only way to improve report performance is to reduce the amount of your data source and reduce the number of visualizations.

By the way, do you connect to Azure SQL database via "DirectQuery" option?

@siddarth_mine You can try DirectQuery feature which lets you connect live to your data source without the need of importing data so data refresh is not required and your report is connected live to the data source.
