PowerQuery SDK Extension in Visual Studio

I can't able to find PowerQuery SDK in Visual Studio Marketplace (Visual Studio 2017 or Latest Version also). Kindly can you please help me with the same.PowerQuerySDK.png

Hi @bmidhun

Yes, the link provided is for the Power Query SDK for Visual Studio Code. As Microsoft has officially shifted support for Power Query SDK development to Visual Studio Code. The Visual Studio (classic) version of the Power Query SDK is no longer actively maintained and is not available in the current Visual Studio Marketplace for download. All new development of Power Query custom connectors should now be done using the Power Query SDK for Visual Studio Code.

To develop custom Power Query connectors, the recommended and supported approach is to use Visual Studio Code along with the Power Query SDK extension. At this time, there is no NuGet package or extension officially provided or supported for Microsoft Visual Studio to develop Power Query connectors.

If this post helps, kindly mark it as Accepted Solution.

Thank You!

I can't find the download page anymore, only the download link. If I remember correctly, it corresponds to VS2019. You might want to try installing it.

Thanks for providing the Installer. It worked well with Visual Studio 2019.

HI @v-karpurapud

Thanks for replying back.

The link you provided works perfectly for Visual Studio Code. However, I was looking for an extension, NuGet package, or any other package that can be installed in Microsoft Visual Studio to create PowerQuery custom connectors.

Hi @bmidhun

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

The Power Query SDK is still available; however, it may not appear in search results within Visual Studio's Extensions Marketplace. To access and install it, please refer to the direct link below:
Power Query SDK - Visual Studio Marketplace

For detailed guidance on using the SDK and developing Power Query custom connectors, you can refer to the official documentation:
Power Query SDK Overview - Power Query | Microsoft Learn

Please ensure that you are using a supported version of Visual Studio (2019 or 2022) and that your environment includes the necessary workloads to support Power Query extensions.

If my response has resolved your query, please mark it as the Accepted Solution to assist others. Additionally, a 'Kudos' would be appreciated if you found my response helpful.

Thank You
