Power Query (on Power BI Server) Retriving Azure DevOps Analytics Views similar to using OData.Feed

Is there a way using Power Query (on Power BI Server) to retrive an Azure DevOps Analytics View, similar to using OData.Feed to retrieve Snapshot or general ADO tables?

Everything I see on-line always leads me to using the Azure DevOps Boards connector in Power BI Desktop to retrieve Analytics Views from Azure DevOps. I would like to create a dataflow right on the server but I have not found a way to write a dataflow to retrieve an Analytics View. Is this possible? Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks.

Hi @JWolmanSymplr

As fasr as i know Power BI Report Server doesn’t support the Azure DevOps “Analytics Views” connector the same way Power BI Service/Power BI Desktop does. So you’re not missing anything obvious as there isn’t a native “Analytics Views” connector inside Power BI Report Server dataflows/Power Query. To get the same data you have to go “one level down” and hit the Analytics OData API directly with OData.Feed-style queries

On Report Server you basically have two options:

  • Use the OData feed endpoint for Azure DevOps Analytics (for example https://{org}.analytics.visualstudio.com/{project}/_odata/v3.0-preview/...) in Power Query, just like you would in Desktop with OData.Feed, and build your own queries over the Analytics OData model instead of using Analytics Views.
  • Or use another supported connector/ODBC driver that exposes Azure DevOps data and is installable on the Report Server machine, then connect to that from Power Query on the server.

Do Let me know if this helps or let me know if you found something else
