Power BI changing Excel source file

I would like to know if it's possible to change the data file from PBI Online or I sould use PBI Desktop?

Development changes to the location of your sources should be done through your power bi desktop.

Power BI won't make actual changes to your source data inside the source file.  It is a read-only system.

Hi @hamzahad91,

We can only change which kind of data source file get data from in Power BI desktop. While in Power BI service, we are not able to change data source. In your scenario, you can click Data source settings -> Change Source to get data from different Excel files.
