Hi,
I had a Customer Insights Data connector set up in Power BI to get data from Customer Insights Data and analyze it in Power BI. This connection is in beta and uses the power query command CustomerInsights.Contents().
The connection was working fine until about 6 weeks ago. We had not changed anything in the connection or the report, but now the connection displays an error message similar to this one:
DataSource.Error: Web.Contents failed to get contents from 'https://prod-weu-01-csc.api.ci.ai.dynamics.com/api/instances/XXXXf9e17-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXX/data/Ent...' (500): Internal Server Error
Details:
DataSourceKind=CustomerInsights
DataSourcePath=CustomerInsights
Url=https://prod-weu-01-csc.api.ci.ai.dynamics.com/api/instances/XXXXf9e17-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXX/data/Ent...
We have tried everything we could think of in order to reconnect, but nothing seems to work. We can connect and see the list of entities in CustomerInsightsData, but when we try to read the data in the entity, the connection fails. Anyone has had a similar problem or knows how to solve it??
Thanks

Hi @Curcuma
This issue has been escalated to the technical team and the team engineers are working on the issue.
You can consider to use dataverse connector, the customer insight connector is still a preview feature, it is recommended to use the Dataverse connector first.
you can refer to the following link, it is also mentioned in the documentation.
Power BI connector (preview) - Dynamics 365 Customer Insights | Microsoft Learn

Hi Yolo,
thanks for your help, the Power BI - Customer Insights Data connector is working again.
Unfortunately we cannot use the Dataverse connector as the relevant CID entities are not there.
This is a stand alone implementation of Customer Insights Data, no data is coming from Dataverse. As far as I know if you don't import Dataverse\Contacts in CID, CID will not populate Dataverse with its entities. Is this not so?
Thank you again for your help
