Missing Connectors for Dataflows

I am trying to use Dataflows to connect to my data but a number of the connectors that are available in PowerBI are not available in Dataflows. Why is that seeing that Dataflows are basically a cloud version of Power Query, and Power Query has all the connectors? When will the connectors be available (one of the main connectors I'm looking for is QuickBase)?

Hi @wrwillits

Although we may think of Dataflow as Power Query online version to understand it more easily, it is not the completely same tool as Power Query Editor. As it is in the service, the logic to design and develop a connector will not be a simple copy of the on-premises version.

You can find out all currently supported connectors from below links. They also indicate which ones are currently supported in Power BI Dataflow.

List of all Power Query connectors | Microsoft Docs

Power BI data sources - Power BI | Microsoft Docs

There are additional data connectors that aren't shown in the Power BI dataflows user interface, but are supported with a few additional steps. You can first connet to them in Power BI Desktop. Then copy the M codes from Advanced Editor and paste it into a blank query in a dataflow. Please refer to Connecting to additional data sources

For other unsupported connectors, we may see them become available in the future. You can get the latest news about new features from Power BI Blog

Hope this helps.

The various version of Power Query are not all the same. Power BI has the most connectors, including custom connector capability. PQ in Excel has far fewer connectors.

Power Query online isn't even the same across products. In Power Automate, PQ only connects to SQL Server for now, whereas PQ online in DataFlows has many more connections, but still not nearly as many as Power BI Desktop.

You can add this to the Ideas forum and see if you can get some votes for the Quickbase connector. Ideas (powerbi.com)
