Hello,
I'm trying to push a report from power bi desktop to share with stakeholders in my organization, and found I needed to install a gateway. I have done that and received this love letter:
I have done the following in an attempt to rectify the issue:
1) Deleted my personal mode gateway from power bi (can't get it back)
2) installed and created an enterprise gateway
3) verified the data source path is identical in BI Desktop
4) confirmed the authentication to connect in BI Desktop is Windows and used that in configuring the gateway
I am connecting to an SQL database thats located in an on-premises server.
What am I missing?
Do I need to make changes to the server the data source is located in to accept requests from the gateway?
Why does this work in BI desktop but not in BI Services?
Most importantly, how do I fix this?

@Anonymous,
Do you  use latest version of Power BI gateway? And what name do you use as server name? Please change server name to fully qualified domain name in Desktop and gateway, then check if you get error.
Regards,
Lydia

@Anonymous,
Are you able to connect to SQL Server from the machine that installing Power BI gateway? You can install SSMS or Power BI Desktop on the machine that installing gateway and test the connection.
In addition, as mentioned in the above error message, there are issues with your connection credential, please check if you enter correct credential for SQL Server.
Regards,
Lydia
Yes, I am able to connect to SQL server on the machine I've installed the gateway on. I have also have both Power BI desktop and SSMS installed on the same machine with no issues logging in.
