I'm trying to access a Power BI dataset via Power Query, with the end goal of being able to bring selected data into Excel from a huge Power BI file.
I'm aware of the ability to connect Excel to Power BI via Pivot Tables but that's not a fit, because a) I want to do more merging & massaging within Power Query before passing it to Excel proper in flat table form, and b) I want to programatically call a subset of the data to filter the records and keep the Excel lean.
I know this has been asked before but I haven't seen anything recent, so was hoping something may have changed.
Thanks!

No. Connecting to a Power BI Dataset will just allow you to create a pivot table with slicers in Excel. Power Query doesn't even know of its existence. If you go into Power Query in Excel, there is no "Power BI Dataset" connector in the "New Source" menu.
DAX is for Analysis. Power Query is for Data Modeling

MCSA: BI ReportingBummer, I was hoping there was a less-obvious way in. Thanks for the quick response.
