Changing Query in another copy

Hello All

Need some 101 advice, I believe I know the answer but wanted to verify. I have a report that receives data via SQL database.

I would like to try some new things in Power Query without hurting the original Report. If I make a copy of the PBIX and "experiment" with new changes in Power Query, will it affect the original PBIX/Report or interfere with the SQL feed? The only thing I would be touching is trying some changes in Power Query.

Thanks for any guidance.

That is a  safe approach. PBIX files cannot impact each other.

But you can also do that inside a PBIX. You can create copies of queries, either as duplicates or as references. Then play with the copy and the original query stays intact.
