Adding sql database source to a gateway using a service account

I have several power bi datasets that I have added to a gateway. When I added the datasources to the gateway I used my active directory credentials.  I've set these datasets to auto refresh which works great until my password changes and then I have to go in and fix the connections with my updated password. I have created  a service acount for the datasources and want to use that since it doesn't change. When I am adding this connection to the gateway, what type of authentication method do I choose?  and what are the steps?

Hi @smmoore34 ,

It depends on what type of credentials the source requires.

A service account is just a fake person so, if a real person (e.g. you) use Windows auth, then the Service account will use that too, same for Basic/OAuth.

Obviously you need to ensure that your service account has permissions to access the source before any of these will work.

Hi @smmoore34

If you are using SQL Server on local drive, it seems that you should choose Windows Authentication.
