The known bug here https://support.fabric.microsoft.com/known-issues/?product=Power%2520BI&active=true&fixed=true&sort=...appears to be orthogonal to the main problem with respect to this mquery error: ADBC: Could not load file or assembly 'Apache.Arrow.Adbc.Telemetry.Traces.Listeners, Version=0.21.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=204f54e5a45c07df' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."
The resolution steps of clearing cache and reinstalling desktop have not fixed the issue. Eliminating GoogleBigQuery.Database([Implementation="2.0"])" with "=GoogleBigQuery.Database()" is not a tenable fix because the V2 treats JSON differently. Eliminating V2 as a fix requires massive script rewrite
Hi @charleshale ,
Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.
We acknowledge that a related issue is listed under Known Issues however, the documented workaround does not fully resolve the ADBC assembly load error you are experiencing. The issue persists even after clearing cache and reinstalling Power BI Desktop, and reverting from GoogleBigQuery.Database([Implementation="2.0"]) is not a viable option due to functional differences in JSON handling.
We recommend opening a Microsoft support ticket so the issue can be investigated further as a potential product defect in the context of your specific environment.

This a pure bug that happened in the Jan 2026 release related to the ADBC changes that applies to many users judging from the posts on reddit and fabric. I can not penetrate past auto-support responses and wrong menu choices to get the bug submitted after following the instructions and spending an hour on it
We have powerbi embedded and an F2 capacity and still can't get support without buying a support plan, which we can not even do on site.
Hi @charleshale ,
We understand this appears to be a product bug introduced with the January 2026 release, related to recent ADBC changes, and we recognize the challenges you’ve faced navigating support channels despite having Power BI Embedded and an F-series capacity.
As a reference, you may review the following documentation, which outlines the current ADBC integration and is still in preview

While this document does not resolve the issue directly, it helps confirm the scope and maturity of the ADBC changes involved.
