Fabric Trail not working

Hello There,

I have created a user with my subcription and now i am trying to get a free fabric trail but it does not allow me to do that. There is always a massage that we can not start the trail . I have given the necessary access to user as a gload admin and also added the role based access as well. I am not sure that is wrong. Can you please help? THanks Saurabh

hi @jennratten ,

if you could help me with the same issue , it would be great

i created recently an azure subscription , there i added a user in order to have an onmicrosoft.com email.

with that email i access fabric paltform , there i started a free trial ,

but when creating a workspace , i can't change a licence category to trial (only Pro or Premium per user).

i clicked start trial / activate trial but still no efffect, i can't create factory items like lakehouse or pipelines.

i face always the same message .....

"Sorry, we are unable to start trial at this time.

Please try again later or contact support. If you contact support, please provide these details"
or
"Failed to prepare a free trial capacity for this workspace"
but the tiral started .... "40 days left"
main points :
- i created the azure subscription in france, then i thik that my region should be "central france"
- i gave the onmicrosoft.com user all administrative rights,
- user can create fabric items is ennabled.
- i tried to create a fabric capacity on azure, but after wainting 30mn i get the message "Oops, we encountred an error, try later... "

do you have any idea , why it is not working or what i should do or check ?

thank you !

🙂

I also have an issue with my free trial not allowing me to add any resources like a lakehouse to my workspace in fabric. I can see my trial is started, as it's showing 57 days. Can you please advise?

Upgrade to a free Microsoft Fabric trial

To create a Lakehouse, your workspace test needs to be upgraded to a free Fabric trial capacity. Upgrading requires us to create a free trial capacity for you and assign this workspace to it. Learn more Opens in new window

Hi @saurabhbhard,

We appreciate your inquiry through the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

To resolve the issue, kindly follow the steps below:

  1. Verify the Tenant Settings by logging into Power BI using a Global Administrator account. Navigate to the Admin Portal, select Tenant Settings, and check if Microsoft Fabric is enabled for your organization.
  2. In Power BI, click on + New Workspace and ensure that the workspace settings are assigned to use the Fabric Trial Capacity.
  3. Access Microsoft Fabric and look for an option such as "Start Trial" or similar prompts on the homepage. Follow the on-screen instructions to initiate the trial.
  4. If the "Start Trial" button is not visible, kindly contact the Fabric Administrator to confirm whether trials are enabled for the tenant.

For additional information, you may refer to the following documentation:

Hi @saurabhbhard - The times I have seen others struggle with this it has turned out that they were in a region that the Microsoft Fabric is not available.  Please check out this article which lists the Azure regions for which the Fabric trial is available.

If your data region is listed, but you still cannot start fabric trial, please go to the documentation to see your options. Learn more: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/get-started/fabric-trial#considerations-and-limitations .

Please let me know if you are still unable to start the trial after reviewing this info.

I'm having the same issue. I'm on a trial subscripiton but cannot create anything in my Workspace.

Hello @LucasSoares - your issue is a bit different - based on your post it seems like you were able to start the Fabric trial capacity but have not been able to create any Fabric items in your workspace.  If that is correct, can you please tell me if you were able to assign your workspace to your Fabric capacity trial?  You would do that by going to the workspace settings > PowerBI Licensing > Fabric > and selecting your trial capacity.
