odata works from my pc's powerbi with basic authentication but wont work on fabric

Hi everyone,

I’m encountering an issue with an OData source in Microsoft Fabric. When I add the OData source in Power BI Desktop using basic authentication, it works flawlessly across different networks. However, when I try to connect to the same OData source in Microsoft Fabric, I receive an “Invalid Credentials” error.

Has anyone else experienced this issue or have any suggestions on how to resolve it?

This is strange since the connection string is quite small and

Thanks in advance for your help!

Solution:

Seemed to be a firewall issue on the jira hosting hyperscaler. Long story short it was blocking other cloud providers. So although the error is credentials invalid the source was a firewall rule.

Hi @BrunoMacedo,
Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.

It looks like an authentication issue of OData source when you try to connect PowerBi Service. You can check your Authentication whether the authentication method for both PowerBi Desktop and PowerBi Service are same or different. Also check if the on premise gateway is properly configured or not. Check if you have the required permissions on the OData source or not.
If none of the above helps you in solving the issue you can reach out to Support by raising a ticket with Microsoft Support.

From the desktop works... using the desktop as a datagateway works.. but i need it to be working from the cloud... and so far no solution..even with an MS ticket running
