SQL Server on VM DB Error

Honestly, I've been searching all over the internet for this error. What does it mean? Failed Failed to create event stream source. Error: { "details": "Property 'username's value '' is invalid" } Artifact ID: 2d602c2e-fabf-41c3-b3e0-fa2a6f7b613e Action: createEventStreamSource Type: SqlServerOnVmDbCdc

Hi @PWTRyanWhite ,

"Property 'username's value '' is invalid"

This means that the system is expecting a valid value for the username property, but it received an empty string (' ') instead. Essentially, the username field is either missing or not properly configured in the setup.

Because Fabric event streams currently supports only Basic authentication, you must provide the username and password which have the necessary permissions to access the SQL Server instance and enable CDC.

For specific connection steps, you can refer to this document:

Hi!

I'm experiencing the same issue (Property 'username's value '' is invalid) when trying to use a connection created under "Manage Connections and Gateways" with an On-premises Data Gateway.

The connection requires the gateway to work, but I can't configure the "Use encrypted connection" option, and I keep getting the same error when using it in Eventstream.

Could you please help me with this?

The 'On-premises Data Gateway' is not supported in Eventstream. Currently, Eventstream supports to get the SQL CDC data from a publicly accessible SQL server. If you have your SQL server in an On-Prem environment with public resovable address, you may try the 'IP allowlist' approach: Connect to Streaming Sources in Virtual Network or On Premises with Eventstream - Microsoft Fabric |.... If your SQL server doesn't have the public resolvable address, you may join our connector VNET/On-Prem support private preview program. You may contact me through this forum messenger so that I can share you the sign-up form.
