Optimizing Power BI Custom Connector Performance for Faster Data Loading

I am building a custom Power BI connector to fetch data from an API. While fetching data from the API is relatively fast, the process of loading it into Power BI takes a significant amount of time. I am looking for ways to optimize the data loading process.

Are there best practices to improve performance when loading data into Power BI from a custom connector? Additionally, are there alternative ways to structure the JSON data output from the API to make it more efficient for Power BI processing?

Any insights or recommendations on optimizing data loading performance in Power BI would be greatly appreciated!

- structure your JSON so it represents simple arrays. Avoid multi level nesting

- consider using data extracts for immutable data to avoid pulling the same data over and over again

- experiment with the record count - your API may have a performance sweet spot there
