Can you please help me on slicer hierarchy.

The behaviour of the HierachySlicer is to select all children if a parent is selected.

Or is the child you refer to a child that doesn't belong to the selected parent?

If so, you can try sorting the data to make sure that all children have the correct parent.

Hi,

Actually I am running into the same issue. We are running a global business where we want report sales on all different levels, including the parents. For example, different levels would be Global - Continent - Region - Country

The difficulty is that the different parents also realize actual sales. Bottomline the question would be If/ how to select a single parent without the children?

Thanks, Philip

Hi @PhillieB69

The HierachySlicer works best for the scenario that a parent is an attribute of a child, so if we are looking at  a table the parent and child are 'just' columns with a sales figure. Or the sales of the parent is the sum of the children, the same is related to the way the selection is working.

If you have parent self have sales, the easiest way is to repeat that the parent attribute also in the child column.

Hi JP,

Thanks for the quick reply. Repeating the parent attribute would is indeed the solution we are currently looking at.  The only minor downside would be to see the attribute duplicated, but functionally it will  provide the rigth info. But good to know I am not overseeing any functionality 🙂

Thanks!
