Error connecting to SQL Server from Power BI Desktop

Hello:

I have access to my employer's SQL Server through SQL Server Management Studio from PBI Desktop.  

I attempted to use the same login credentials in Power BI to access the SQL Server but ran into the following error.  Any guidance would be much appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

@Kaviraj11 I don't get to that screen.

The screenshot shows what pops up when I choose SQL Server option under Get data.  When I enter the login info and hit OK, it gives the error I shared earlier.

Are you putting only the server name? can you try with a specific database that you have access on the server?

   • Confirm that the login you’re using has the necessary permissions to access the database.
   • In SSMS, navigate to the database, right-click, and choose “Properties.” Under “Permissions,” check if the login has the required access.

3. Test Connection Outside Power BI:

   • Use SSMS or another tool to test the connection directly to the SQL Server.
   • If you encounter the same issue, it might be related to SQL Server configuration or network settings.

4. Check Network Connectivity:

   • Ensure that the SQL Server is reachable from your machine.
   • Ping the server or try connecting using telnet to verify network connectivity.

Okay, but I'm asking for when you connect to SQL Server Database in PBI Desktop, Which mode are you connected with?
