Dear community,
I have a included Norway, Taiwan and other countries RLS in many of my reports. I'm supposed to create usage metric report which shows "how many people from Norway use the report."
Is there any way to get such data in the usage metric report?
Please help. My humble request.
Hi,
It is possible to achieve this if you use Log Analytics. I have developed a very good solution using Pipelines, Notebooks, API, and Log Analytics.
It requires quite a bit of work and is not entirely straightforward, but I have managed to create a very good solution.
I combine this with the Activity Event API, so I now have a detailed log per user down to each individual page visited. Log Analytics logs all queries, so it can also be easily adapted to see which RLS rule is used.
Im also from Norway 🙂
Hi @Sanjzzzz ,
Based on my research, there is currently no direct method to capture Row-Level Security (RLS) activities within the usage metric reports in Power BI. However, you can follow the steps below to get it as a workaround:
1. Create and view a new usage metrics report
Solved: Re: How to fetch usage metric details through Powe... - Microsoft Fabric Community
Admin - Get Activity Events - REST API (Power BI Power BI REST APIs) | Microsoft Learn
2. Customize the Usage Metrics Report
3. Open the aboved copied report in Power BI Desktop and add RLS info in it
4. Create the measures to get the user info from different regions base on RLS role and usage metric info
5. Save and publish the updated report to Service
Best Regards
