I am trying to find a way to monitor our virtual machine performance. Are there any tutorials that can wlak me through setting this up?

You can set up the Azure VM diagnostic by following this link Microsoft Azure Virtual Machine Monitoring with Azure Diagnostics Extension.

Since all of the diagnostic data collected was saved in a user storage account, you can access that data by using "Azure table storage" connector.
