Updating Name column in dimension table breaks filter

Say I have two tables:

Fact

DimensionId

Dimension

Id

Name

When I add a filter and drop in Dimension.Name and restrict it to Dimension.Name='original name' it works fine however if I then go and change the data from "original name" to "new name".  The filter is still for "original name" and no data comes back.

I would expect this filter to be against the underlying id Dimension.ID row and relationship to the fact table and the filter would be updated to Dimension.Name='new name'.

I don't want to filter on Dimension.Id as this could change per database.  I could add a unique human readable code but this is not ideal.

What is the best practice, am I doing something wrong here?

Hi @Weka ,

What's the relationship between the two tables? Could you give me some screenshots of the results of the two filters? And it would be nice if you could provide some sample data.

Best Regards,

Icey
